Top Place to Stand up Paddle in the Okanagan
Naramata is a great place to paddle for several reasons:
Scenic beauty: Naramata is situated on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake across from Summerland. It offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Paddling in this area allows you to experience this beauty up close and personal. You can view the most gorgeous sunsets from Mill Bay, just launch at Wharf Park which has a good old Canadian outhouse washroom and parking lot.
Two Protected Bays: The waters off Naramata Village make it it an ideal place for beginners or those looking for a relaxing paddle. There are a lot fewer motorized boats in this area, so the water is generally quiet and peaceful. Head to Manitou and you will be protected by any north winds or Wharf Park if there is a south wind.
Accessibility: Naramata is located just a short drive from Penticton, making it easy to access. There are several launch points along the shore, including park and public boat launch at Manitou Park.
Wildlife viewing: Okanagan Lake is home to a variety of wildlife, including eagles, osprey, and various species of fish. Paddling in this area gives you the opportunity to see these creatures up close and in their natural habitat. Many bear have been spotted on shore by our SUP renters.
Wineries and restaurants: Naramata is also known for its wineries and restaurants. Paddling in this area allows you to enjoy a leisurely lunch or wine tasting before or after while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
You can rent a board from us at Sun n’ Sup. All our boards come on little sup carts so you can walk it down to whichever side of the village you want.
We are so fortunate to live in one of the best places to paddle in the Okanagan.
